One way or another humanity has tried to return to that time in life where they knew exactly how they stood with God. The epitome of this struggle to return, in the Bible has always been through the keeping of the Law. The law became our attempt to return: If only I can keep the Law perfectly I would be with God. For some this keeping of the law was faith for others it was morality. If I can just keep the law I would make God happy and God would let me back into the garden.
