Our Christian Education Ministry is formed by the sense of being called to follow Jesus; to learn his ways. We study the Bible because we believe it is the Word of God. Martin Luther said, “The Bible is the manger that holds the Christ.” Lori Burnett is the leader of this committee.

Christian Education Fall 2024

Sunday Morning at 9:00 a.m.

Children’s Sunday School

  • PreK – 4th grade – Classrooms 2 and 4, led by Lori Burnett, Susan McLemore, Beth English, and Katie Gagley. This group will have fun connecting as a large group with songs and Bible Stories, then will break into groups based on reading level to do some age appropriate learning. New friends are always welcome.

Middle Grades

  • 5th grade – 8th grade – Classroom 6, led by Anne Hudnall and Nancy Simon. This group will focus on connecting the Sunday Scripture to current events to find those places where our faith interacts with life in the world. From time to time we’ll also do some service projects and help other Sunday School classes to learn about Jesus.

Parents Coffee Group

  • Parents Coffee Group – Classroom 7, led by Megan Newpher and Karen Burnett. Parents of Sunday School kids are invited to grab a cup of coffee and connect with other parents in the congregation. We’ll have a couple of questions to get us started but mostly will focus on building relationships and supporting one another as parents.

Lectionary Bible Class

  • Lectionary Bible Class – Classroom 10, led by Pete Etzler, Dwight Kessler, and Allan Ellstrom. This group will focus on the Old Testament reading from Sunday’s lectionary and explore the connections from that passage to the day’s gospel text. This is a great class for anyone looking to explore the treasure of the scripture we read in worship.
