Advent 2024 – Preparing IN Christ’s Presence
On Christmas Eve we will hear again the good news of the first time that Jesus Christ came into the world. Throughout the Advent season we will prepare our hearts for him to come again to make all things new.
This year’s Advent theme is, “Preparing IN Christ’s Presence.”
Maybe you’ve been to a church recently or maybe this is when you are jumping back into church. Either way you’re welcome at Peace.
Plan your visit today and we will:
- Meet you at the front door
- Help you get your kids situated
- Introduce you around to a few people
- Save you seats
- We’ll even sit with you if you want (so you don’t have to sit by yourself)
We want to make your first visit as easy possible and actually take time to get to know you and your family.
Wild idea, right?
Will you come hang out with us this Sunday?

Wednesdays – Mid-Week Worship
On Wednesday nights in Advent (Dec 4, 11, 18) we will consider three themes that will refresh our waiting and our watching. “Rest,” “Wonder,” and “Hope” are themes that emerge from the scriptures as a guide for us this season. Join us on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. as we gather to sing Holden Event Prayer and as we find ourselves again IN Christ’s presence, preparing our hearts for the One who is coming to make all things new. Ten minutes before the service begins we will have an Advent Hymn Sing where you get to choose any hymn from the hymnal and we’ll sing it together.
Sunday Morning Specials
On Sunday mornings we will gather for worship at our regular 10:00 a.m. time. Of special note is the Christmas Cantata, Gaudete Sunday, and the Sunday School Christmas Program.
Peace Choir Christmas Cantata
The Peace Choir will present “Let the Whole World Sing” by Joel Raney, on December 15, 10:00 a.m. The music combines traditional and new music in telling the story of the birth of Jesus as a message for the whole world. Please invite family and friends for this special Christmas Cantata.
Gaudete Sunday
On Dec 15, in the Middle Ages the third Sunday of Advent functioned as a respite from the more traditional celebrations. Gaudete means “Rejoice”, it gives an intentional opportunity to pause and celebrate the beauty, the sweetness, and the nearness of the birth of Jesus Christ. The traditional color for the day is rose.
Sunday School Christmas Program
During our church service on Sunday, December 22, 10:00 a.m. we will have our Christmas Program. Please invite everyone you know to join us for this very special service. You will enjoy our children as they share the Christmas message.
Family Promise Angel Tree
Peace supports Family Promise a few times a year. We have served as an overnight host, providing meals, fellowship and overnight chaperones. We will support this holiday season in a new way. We are sponsoring 8 children from the Family Promise Angel Tree. From November 24 thru December 15, we will collect gifts that are chosen from the angel tree and to be delivered to the families on Monday, December 16. Please refer to the flyer by the angel tree in the Narthex or contact Lisa Loher, 651-335-9575 if you have any questions.
Christmas Eve Worship
Christmas Eve is Tuesday, December 24. We will have one Christmas Eve service at 4:00 p.m. This service will have extra music with the choir, soloists, and a duet. Plan to arrive at least ten minutes early for special music. The Christians Eve service is always a beautiful worship service as we rejoice remembering the Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ. The music will be moving. The preaching will point us to the Incarnate One. And together we will be nourished by Christ’s body and blood in the sacrament of Holy Communion. There is always strong attendance on Christmas Eve so please make plans to arrive early. Overflow seating will be in the Narthex.
