FISH Food Pantry

  • FISH is a volunteer ministry of many Christian churches in Knox County in which Emergency Food—enough for three days is provided to families in need. Call 865-523-7900 between 9am-12p Monday through Saturday for eligibility. Groceries will be delivered to you or you will be told where to go to pick up the groceries.

KARM Meals

  • We work with Knox Area Rescue Ministry to prepare lunch for people experiencing homelessness. Typically the group from Peace prepares the meal six times a year.

Family Promise

  • Serves families experiencing homelessness in Knox County. We work with the Episcopal Church of the Good Samaritan to provide meals, conversation, and a safe place to stay in churches so that families can stay together as they work towards housing. Feed to Succeed – Cedar Bluff Elementary

  • Provides weekend food bags for children at Cedar Bluff Elementary School who live in food insecure households. Second Harvest provides the food, we pack it and deliver the bags of food to Cedar Bluff Elementary School. There a school counselor gets the food to the kids who need it.

Back to School Snack Drive – Cedar Bluff Elementary

  • Together with the Cedar Bluff community we collect non-perishable snacks for the kids at Cedar Bluff Elementary School. Some snacks are given to teachers for children who forget or cannot afford to bring a snack. Other snacks are used by administrators when a child is having a difficult day and needs a snack and a conversation.

Steps House Veterans Day Collection

  • Steps House provides housing support to homeless veterans. We collect needed supplies and pictures to support the work of Steps House with homeless veterans.

Bread for the World

  • Bread for the World is a Christian advocacy organization that encourages elected officials to support policies that will bring an end to hunger in our country and around the world. We write letters in support of this ministry. Learn more at https://www.bread.org/

Dr. David Brondos – Mexico City

  • Dr. David and Alicia Brondos are ELCA Missionaries serving in Mexico City. Dr. Brondos teaches as an ecumenical seminary. We collect the “Lifting of the Silver” offering on the second Sunday of every month to support their ministry. We also write cards and remember them in our prayer. Learn more at https://dbrondos.mx/

Iglesia Luterana Agustina de Guatemala (ILAG)

  • The Iglesia Luterana Agustina de Guatemala (ILAG) is our global companion church in the Southeastern Synod. Together with congregations across our Synod we pray for, visit, and support one another in the name of Christ. Members of our congregation have traveled to Guatemala multiple times and leaders from the church in Guatemala have been to Peace on several occasions.
