Imagine if we remove from the human condition our resistance to living fully for God. Every day we would wake not seeking to, but actually being fully connected to God. In Hebrew the word for this kind of life and world is Shalom. It is a world in which harmony reigns as the power of God’s righteousness between God and creation and all creatures. Isaiah describes it this way, “The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, and the lion will eat straw like the ox. The infant will play near the cobra’s den, and the young child will put its hand into the viper’s nest.” If only we could resist temptation. If only we could say no three times. If only.
