In so many ways, the way we live our lives is a witness to that sense of who we are. Our life is our witness, in that we testify about what we think is important. For the Hebrew people, by the time they had settled into life in the land that God had promised to Abraham, they had come to understand the identifying act for them was the Passover. It is a moment in which they point to and say that God decisively broke into their suffering and gave them some real sense of identity. Through the blood of the lamb upon the doorpost, the LORD God in the midst of death gave to the Hebrew people: life.
