Christians seldom chose the path of transformation, what theologians over the centuries have called the “path of descent;” the path Jesus choose of humility and self-sacrifice for the greater good. We instead, like the disciples and the people of Noah long before them seek something else. Christians are just not that open to change. We like consistency, even if the consistency leads to something other than abundant life. It is how we survive. We look up to the glory and not down to the hard work.
